What is Creatinine?

Creatinine is a waste product generated during muscle and protein metabolism. It is present in our bloodstream and Your kidney filters waste products including creatine out of your blood. These waste products are then expelled into the urine. Everyone has some creatine in their bloodstream but too much may be a sign of Kidney Disease.

What are the causes of high Creatinine?

In general high levels of creatinine mean that your kidneys aren’t properly working. There are many causes of high creatinine, some may be a one-time occurrence. Examples can include things such as large amounts of protein intake, dehydration, or the supplement creatine. However, other causes of high creatinine may be due to health conditions. This condition can cause disease or damage to the kidney. They can include:

  • drug toxicity (drug-induced nephrotoxicity)
  • kidney infection (pyelonephritis)
  • glomerulonephritis
  • diabetes
  • high blood pressure
  • heart disease, such as congestive heart failure or atherosclerosis
  • blockage of the urinary tract
  • kidney failure, both acute and chronic

What are the signs and symptoms of high Creatinine?

The symptoms of high creatinine levels can depend on the medical condition that’s causing it.

Drug toxicity

Certain medications may cause damage to the kidneys and impair their ability to function properly.

  • antibiotics,
  • cardiovascular drugs,
  • chemotherapy drugs
  • diuretics
  • lithium
  • proton pump inhibitors

Symptoms of high creatinine that can develop rapidly may include:

  • fluid retention, particularly in your lower body
  • passing low amounts of urine
  • feeling weak or tired
  • confusion
  • nausea
  • shortness of breath
  • irregular heart rate
  • chest pain

The best ayurvedic medicine to lower creatinine is herbal remedies. Herbal remedies can be used to improve kidney function and to lower Drug toxicity.

Kidney infection (pyelonephritis)

A kidney infection is a type of UTI (urinary tract infection). It can happen when viruses or bacteria spread in other parts of the urinary tract before spreading up into the Kidneys.

If the infection is left untreated it can cause damage to Kidneys and may cause kidney failure. Some kidney infection symptoms include:

  • fever
  • pain at your back, side, or groin
  • urination that’s frequent or painful
  • urine that appears dark, cloudy, or bloody
  • bad-smelling urine
  • chills
  • nausea or vomiting

Ayurvedic medicine for reducing creatinine level is often used together with pyelonephritis ayurvedic treatment.

Glomerulonephritis

Glomerulonephritis occurs when the tiny filters in the Kidneys become inflamed. Some causes may include infections or autoimmune diseases like Goodpasture syndrome and lupus.

It can lead to kidney damage and scaring or it may lead to kidney failure. Symptoms of the condition include:

  • high blood pressure
  • blood in the pee, and may appear pink or brown
  • urine that appears foamy due to high levels of protein
  • fluid retention in the face, hands, and feet

Creatinine treatment in Ayurveda is one of the many ways to treat high creatinine. Glomerulonephritis can also be treated with ayurvedic treatment.

Diabetes

Diabetes is a medical condition in which you have high blood sugar. High blood sugar levels may lead to various health problems, one of which is kidney disease.

Two types of diabetes Type 1 and type 2. General symptoms of diabetes include:

  • feeling very thirsty
  • frequent urination
  • increased appetite
  • feeling fatigued
  • blurry vision
  • sensations of tingling or numbness in the hands and feet
  • slow wound healing

Ayurvedic medicine for reducing creatinine level can also be helpful in the Ayurvedic treatment of Diabetes.

High blood pressure

Arteries are narrow blood vessels.  The narrower blood vessels, create more resistance to blood flow, and higher blood pressure. This can Beacon or damage the arteries around the Kidneys,  which may impact kidney function and cause high creatinine. High blood pressure often does not show symptoms.

High blood pressure treatment with creatinine treatment in Ayurveda can help lower high blood pressure.

Heart disease

Medical conditions affecting the blood vessels and the heart such as congestive heart failure and atherosclerosis, these condition can affect blood flow in the Kidneys and may lead to loss of function or damage.

Atherosclerosis Symptoms don't usually occur until an artery is completely blocked or severely narrowed. Some general symptoms include:

  • chest pain (angina)
  • shortness of breath
  • abnormal heartbeat (arrhythmia)
  • feeling tired or weak
  • stroke-like symptoms, like trouble speaking or paralysis

Symptoms of congestive heart failure can include:

  • difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
  • feeling tired or fatigued
  • swelling in the abdomen, legs, or feet

If you have a heart condition and want to treat it in natural ways then the best ayurvedic medicine to lower creatinine and improve heart condition is herbal remedies.

Urinary tract blockage

Urinary tract blockage can happen due to a variety of conditions such as an enlarged prostate, kidney stones, or tumors. When that happens, urine may accumulate in the kidneys, which may lead to hydronephrosis.

Some symptoms to look out for in addition to a high creatinine level include:

  • pain in your back or side
  • frequent or painful urination
  • blood in your urine
  • passing small amounts of pee or having a weak urine stream
  • feeling tired or fatigued

Ayurvedic medicine for reducing creatinine level can also be used together with Urinary tract blockage treatments.

Kidney failure

Kidney failures refer to when kidneys lose the ability to filter waste from blood. This condition can be either chronic or acute.

Some symptoms of kidney failure include:

  • fluid retention, particularly in your lower body
  • passing low amounts of urine
  • feeling weak or fatigued
  • headache
  • confusion
  • nausea
  • trouble sleeping
  • muscle cramping
  • feeling itchy
  • shortness of breath
  • chest pain

Creatinine treatment in Ayurveda and Kidney failure treatment using Ayurveda include herbal formulation, panchakarma therapy, Yoga & exercise, Home remedies, and Rasayana.

Diagnosis of high Creatinine

Creatinine levels can be determined using a urine test or a blood test.

Blood creatinine test

The test is referred to as a serum creatinine test. The doctor will take your blood from a vein in your arm and is then sent to a lab for further analysis.

Urine creatinine test

Your doctor may collect a urine sample for this test, but they’ll more likely request a 24-hour sample.  A 24-hour urine sample involves collecting urine throughout the period of 24 hours.

Prevention of high Creatinine

The best way to treat high creatinine levels is the treatment of the underlying cause. Here are some ways to naturally prevent high creatinine levels.

Don’t consume supplements containing creatine: People who want to reduce their creatinine levels should not take creatine supplements to improve kidney function.

Reduce your protein intake: A Study shows that eating large amounts of protein can affect creatinine levels.

Eat more fiber: Research shows that people with CKD (chronic kidney disease) who increased their fiber intake showed significant reductions in creatinine levels.

Drink plenty of water: Dehydration can affect creatinine levels. Drinking plenty of water can help you stay hydrated.

Lower your salt intake: Diets that include excess salt intake can cause high blood pressure. Eat less Processed foods.

Avoid using painkillers: Painkillers may be harmful if taken in amounts over the recommended dosage or taken too often.

Avoid smoking: Smoking cigarettes harms the body and kidneys in several ways that may increase creatinine levels.

Limit your alcohol intake: Excessive consumption of alcohol can damage the kidneys. It can also cause conditions like alcohol dependency and high blood pressure.
